For 2021, the  Mercedes- AMG E63 S gets more of an AMG GT look with a more aggressive grille and a new rear-end appearance.

The E63 AMG is probably the most interesting German sedan of all time because it changes not only from one generation to another but also during the mid-life facelift.

Upgrades

The bulk of the changes to the facelifted Mercedes- AMG E63 AND E63 S are visual, with the models adopting AMG’S trademark Panamericana grille that’s shared with the GT Sports car and a plethora of other AMG models. The regular E-class facelift’s reshaped LED headlight carries over to the range-topper, while restyled lower air intakes also feature.

At the rear, simmed LED tail- lights on the sedan are complemented by new titanium- finish exhaust outlets on S model and a restyled bumper and lower diffuser. 27mm- wider wheel arches also feature front and rear.

Inside, the revised e63 scores the standard 2021 e- class ‘MBUX’ infotainment system with dual 12.25-inch touch screen, ‘Hey Mercedes’ voice control, Apple car play, and Android Auto, in addition to a new steering wheel with sensors in the rim to detect if drivers have taken their hands off for a long period of time and display warnings accordingly.

What hasn’t changed is the powerplant sitting under the bonnet: Mercedes- AMG’s venerable 4.0- liter twin-turbocharged V8, developing 420kw of power and 750Nm of torque in standard E63 models.

Drive is sent to the tarmac through a nine-speed multi-clutch automatic transmission and variable all-wheel-drive system.

Opting for the S trim ups those outputs to 450kw and 850 Nm, and cuts the 0-100km/h claim for the sedan and wagon to 3.3 and 3.4 seconds respectively.

Performance feature under the skin include AMG Ride Control plus adaptive suspension, six drive modes:(Slippery, Comfort, Sport, Sport+, Individual, Race ), variable steering, a multi-mode sports exhaust and a high-performance steel braking package for S models consisting of six-piston, 390mm stoppers upfront and 360mm single-piston units at the rear.
