So, you need to be really careful, especially when you’re trying to sell cars in the UAE.
It could be scalped tickets, job oriented scams or any scam phone calls wherein people call and tell you to pay money to a certain account or else you’ll lose certain assets you own or suffer some kind of dire consequences. These con artists can use any and every tactic or trick to pull their drama successfully. Therefore, you should be safe even when you’re selling your car. Always research well. Talk to experts. And conduct a person-to-person sale.
1. Take care of Cheques
Bluffing someone with their cheques is the easiest method to trick someone. It is so because someone might give you a cheque and take away your car. Later, you find that the cheque bounced, it can be really shocking. But yes, it is a common felony practice. All in all, you lost your car and got no money. Just beware before taking a cheque. Instead, find out other safer alternatives.
2. Installments/ “Promise to Pay”
This is another trick to set someone up. The alleged car buyer might make promises to pay some down payment right at that time and rest of the amount as instalments. It could be a bluff. Ensure that they pay you complete amount before you transfer the ownership of your car. Try not to give the option of easy instalments as you’re not a bank. Leave the financing services to the professionals.
3. Asking too much information
If you’re selling your car, you should be the one asking questions, especially about the payment. You should be very clear about the payment terms and conditions. But, if the “buyer” becomes too nosey, take a clue and be smart. If you notice something weird, don’t ignore it! Make sure that you don’t give any of your important document or banking details to the other party. This might be an outlay of a fraud.
4. Educate others and get educated
It is important to learn from one’s own mistakes and to save others close to you as well. For this, you must contact some expert in UAE who tells you the knicks and knacks of selling a car on your own. Once you grasp that knowledge, let others know about it as well. You should read more and learn more.
