The Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has introduced the “mparking” system which allows Dubai residents and visitors from other Emirates to pay for Dubai public parking fees via SMS from their Etisalat or du mobile phones. The main benefit of this service is that one can renew the time for parking without having to walk to the parking meter.
How does it work?
Using a mobile phone, you can even pay your parking fee without using your traditional parking ticket in Dubai. RTA mparking is a virtual authorization issued via your mobile phone, that you can use without entering your contact details.
Dubai registered vehicles can use the service immediately while vehicles registered outside Dubai require sign-up first. Dubai registered vehicle owners may also sign-up on the mparking website to fill in details of their vehicles and obtain short names which will make the process even easier.
1. Locate a public parking area. Look for the parking sign with ZONE Number at the bottom.
2. Determine how long you need to park for.
3. Note your plate number or if you have signed-up on the ‘mparking’ website then recall your vehicle’s short name.
4. Create a new SMS to 7275 (PARK) from your Etisalat or du mobile phone. The service does not currently work for du subscribers.
5. Content of SMS should be as follows:
- Vehicle Plate ID and Number with no spaces
- Space
- Parking zone ID
- Space
- Duration of validity (in hours)
6. A confirmation SMS will be sent to your phone and the vehicle information will be updated to the parking wardens so they know how long your parking is valid for.
7. A reminder SMS will be sent to you 10 minutes before the expiration of parking time. If you need to extend, simply reply to the SMS by typing:
- Y
- A space
- Duration of extension (in hours)
8. Enjoy your time since you didn’t have to go to the parking meter even once!

The great thing about Dubai RTA SMS parking is that it sends reminders, 10 minutes before the ticket expires to renew the parking ticket. These reminders come with instructions on how to extend the parking ticket via SMS.
To extend the parking users just need to reply with a ‘Y’. This will extend the Dubai parking ticket by the same duration that was placed before. To change the duration, users will have to send a new SMS.
