No matter how much you like traveling by public transport, there are many instances where you have to drive your own car to get to a place. And in order to be able to drive, you must have a car and a driving license. Well, getting a driving license in UAE is a very tedious and expensive task. It involves a step-by-step process.

The aspirants have to enrol themselves in an authorised driving school to learn the basics. In case you are between 18 to 21 years of age, you can apply for a probationary licence.
Who qualifies for training?
People who don’t possess a licence that is not from any of the following 36 countries, then you must undergo training.
The 36 countries excluded are: Australia, Austria, Bahrain, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Japan, South Korea, Kuwait, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Oman, Poland, Portugal, Qatar, Romania, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, United Kingdom, and the United States.
Driving license holders of the above-mentioned countries must have the following documents:
- Canada: A letter from the Canadian Consulate in Dubai to verify that the driving license is genuine.
- Driving license holders from Greece, Canada, Cyprus, Poland, Turkey, Japan and
- South Korea will require a translated version of their driving license from their respective consulates.
You need the following documents to get a translated driving license: A valid original driving licence, valid residence visa issued by Dubai, a completed form for replacement of licence, No Objection letter from the sponsor. All these are mandatory to replace licence and Optometry form accredited by the health authority in Emirate Location.
