UAE: An unfortunate event such as an accident can take place with anyone on any road at any time. Instead of panicking, this simple guide will help you in reporting an accident in the UAE.

There can be different situations.

1.  In a scenario wherein you’re involved in an accident and no one needs any medical services. The damage to the vehicle is also minimal. Move the vehicle to the side of the road to avoid causing a traffic jam or blocking the road.

2.  If your vehicle is damaged while parking in the parking area, then you must call the Police or drive to the nearest police station. If the damage you’ve spotted is significant, you must file a report. After explaining what has happened, the Police will issue you a damage report after you pay AED 50. This receipt must be submitted to the insurance company. However, this must be done as soon as you’ve noticed the damage.

Following Documents are required in their Original form:

Note: It is highly recommended to maintain your calm and not start arguing over who is at fault. Let the Police officials take charge. They will talk to each party involved and hear both sides of the story to determine who is at fault.

3.  Once all that is done, Police hands over a copy of the accident report to both the parties.

4.  If your vehicle isn’t in state to be driven, then call a recovery vehicle to tow away the vehicle.

5.  After receiving all the paperwork, submit them to your insurance provider.

 6. Depending on the colour of the paper you received the Police, you’ll either need to pay for the repairs or claim it from the other party.
