Lexus has been in the market for less than 30 years now and it has its showrooms in more than 70 countries and territories around the world. In this very short span of time, Lexus has become Japan’s largest maker and seller of premium cars because of the features and quality that they provide. The latest launch is Lexus IS 2019. Available models are IS 300 Premier, IS 350 Platinum and IS 350 F-Sport. There are five seats in each of the models.
Upgrades
Lexus reprogrammed the IS 300’s 2.0-litre turbo-4 this year, but it’s 241 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque remain the same as last year. The base IS 300 is better than the IS 300 with all-wheel drive. It’s much smoother now. Also, the IS 300 is an all-wheel drive which is a curious step backwards.
Features
The interior is richly finished and will definitely delight all the audiophiles with its optional Mark Levinson sound system.
- IS 2019 is equipped with the IS 300’s turbo-4 mated to an 8-speed automatic and rear-wheel drive.
- The setup carries a promising 241-horsepower rating.
- The 3-liter V-6 swaps in with all-wheel drive for a step up in cylinder count on the IS 300 is pretty smooth to drive. IS’ up-front seats are firm and power-adjustable. But a drawback is that the rear seats are quite tight; therefore it is more suitable as a coupe.
- The tight cabin ensures that all controls are within reach, most of them on a 7.0-inch infotainment display.
- The Lexus IS handles are aided by a balanced chassis and nicely gripped 17-inch wheels on most of the versions. But be careful that not all versions ride on all-season tires, so check before making the final decision depending upon the terrain on which you drive the most.
Lexus IS 2019’s headlights add a high-tech appearance to its front end, but they don’t the limelight away from its overwhelming grille. The side cuts and sides draw the attention to the wheels, which are pressed outward and are tucked within sharply creased wheel wells. The looks are definitely appealing. The sedan’s interior is best appreciated when you’re up close. The cockpit sensation is created by its wide-center console, tiered dashboard, high beltline, and physically narrow cabin. These resonate with the idea that the car was designed with driver-focused intentions.
Safety
A suite of active safety gear standard is included in the sedan including the active lane control, adaptive cruise control and automatic emergency braking. Additional options include blind-spot monitors with rear cross-traffic alerts.
