When you think of Tesla you think of Inventive, imaginative, innovative, innovatory, innovational, experimental, original And Elon Musk.

He is a creative and visionary person. You and we show how visionary we are. We planned for tomorrow, for next week etc. But Elon plans for next decade. He is a revolutionary person and when your leader is revolutionary then he will hire a next revolutionary for his project or he will make you like that. And then you will work for that project, not for money. And you will give your cent per cent. This is how he built his team. His team is also innovative. And now when a team is doing a project with full dedication they will surely get the results too.

There are a couple of reasons for Tesla to be so popular:

1. Firstly, it’s not that in recent times Tesla cars are gaining popularity. We ‘ve known about Tesla a long time back when it was making the inception of super-electric cars that were going to revolutionize the near future. And, of course, we see that today! But since then, the “Autobahn” had diesel or petrol cars cruising on it (making some world record).

What has changed in recent times is our concern and awareness of climatic changes due to global warming, which has fossil fuel as one of its key ingredients. And hence the automobile sector too came under scrutiny. Every industrial activity carried around the globe now takes serious concern about environmental pollution and global warming.

So, one of the fine reasons and too-good opportunity for Tesla Motors to finally implement what’s on the paper for a long time, on the road. And the growth story starts henceforth. Of course, now, it’s need of the hour that we switch to EV and Hybrid technologies in automobiles to give our one little share in saving the planet. Moreover, the government. initiative to give subsidy on EV and HV is some lucrative deal as well. Tesla had long envisaged this shift (from gas to electric/hybrid) and hence started building their pace much-much ahead of time and competition. And now it’s time to cash on their investment.

2. The second most important reason for gaining popularity of Tesla Motors in recent times is an unfortunate event that had the company in boiling water for a few years back. There was a fatal accident of a Tesla owner who was driving the most technologically advanced line up of Tesla cars – The Model S.

The owner was driving the car in autonomous mode (where the driver need not give any input or manoeuvrability to the car either through brake, accelerator or steering – though Tesla Motors highly recommends the driver to have full control and not leave the steering wheel even in autonomous mode!) at a speed of 74 mph when a tractor-trailer that was driving ahead of him made a sudden turn. Since the car was in autonomous mode, hence it should have sensed and recognized this change in its path by another vehicle in front of it, and accordingly should have applied the brakes and activated other safety features in such occurrences. But the car failed to sense that event and crashed straight into the trailer, thus completely smashing its roof and flew 150 ft. from the spot, hitting a pole and further dragged to 30ft before the complete stop.

This accident had Tesla engineers rethink technology – what they had envisaged and implemented as the future of the automobile, is somewhere overlooked in going too fast to see the change. Sadly it’s not denial to the fact that the driver-owner didn’t comply to the Tesla guidelines of autonomous mode, which he took to level 4 of autonomous mode; while Tesla technology of autonomous driving is still between level 2 and 3. But the kind of technology and to the level that Tesla Motors wanted to usher the automotive industry has also come into question of its safety and faith in customers, that they are finally and after all safe in a Tesla.

Although it might not seem like it at the moment, the future of the automotive industry relies on electric vehicles. There are many reasons for this and, to some extent, Tesla is part of that reason. A company that first launched onto the scene in 2003 and has only produced three models to date, it does seem slightly strange how one car manufacturer can generate so much hype among consumers and so much panic among OEMs. However, there are reasons for this and there are reasons why Tesla, on the whole, is an extremely popular car brand. Here are these main reasons.

#1 The Great Look: Electric cars have generated a look, over the years, of ‘oh, that is an electric car and is uncool’.However, with Tesla, they wanted to remove this stereotype with electric cars and you know they have achieved this from simply looking at the cars. They are sharp, sporty and look very appealing to consumers. Isn’t it?

#2 Seriously Quick: Part of the reason why electric cars sometimes come across as uncool is the fact they have awful performance…not with Tesla. Considering the fact that every one of their cars does 0-60 mph in under 6 seconds easy and the Tesla Model S introduced a ‘ludicrous mode’ (yes, they really called it that), in 2.5 seconds and making it the quickest sedan ever, that is something that is jaw-droppingly amazing and who would not want to own such a car?

#3 Great Range: Along with their performance, you would expect that they would have a range of 100 miles, which seems to be the market standard at the moment for electric vehicles. However, this is not the case again with Tesla. The new 2019 Model S 100D has a predicted range of 370 miles which is, pretty much, the same as many internal combustion engines! It is truly staggering the technology in Tesla cars which enable the batteries to hold so much energy in dense packaging.

#4 Charger Ahead: Tesla has created its own network of Supercharger stations, places where drivers can fully charge their Tesla vehicles in about 30 minutes for free. The premise behind building and owning these stations is to speed up the rate of adoption for electric cars. Without the ability to charge on the go (similar to the concept of getting gasoline while driving), electric cars face a huge obstacle to mass adoption. Tesla will continue adding to the network of Supercharger stations in the United States, Europe, and Asia

#5 Self Driving Technology: All new Tesla models from now on will be equipped and manufactured with hardware to enable self-driving. The software is not yet there, but the hardware is. For many consumers, this is extremely exciting to know the car they are going to buy now will one day drive them around, when they want.

Ultimately, the hype around Tesla as a brand is completely valid. They have completely changed the electric vehicle market and illustrated to OEMs that electric cars can be cool, fast, have a great range, great technology and completely and utterly clean to the environment. It is a vehicle which, if everyone owned, would simply change the world as we know it. That is why it is exciting and that is why Tesla is so popular
