Safety
Keeping an advanced suite of active and passive safety features, Avalon is designed to keep not only the driver but also the passengers safe in the event of an accident. The standard features on both the models of Avalon include Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection, Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist, Automatic High Beams and Dynamic Radar Cruise Control. The RCTA is specially designed to assist safe reversing using quasi-millimeter-wave radars in the rear bumper to detect approaching vehicles. When an approaching vehicle is detected, the system alerts the driver with a buzzer and flashing indicators in the relevant outer mirror. It also activates pre-collision brake assist when the driver depresses the brake pedal. If the driver cannot depress the brake pedal, it activates the pre-collision brakes. The car is equipped with SRS dual airbags and SRS knee airbags. They are available for the driver’s seat and passenger’s seat. The SRS side airbags and SRS curtain-shield airbags are also available for the front and rear seats. This helps in mitigating the impact on occupants in the event of a collision.
To make parking easier, clearance sonar displays a warning message on the multi-information display and beeps if an obstruction is detected. It can be turned on and off as per need.
